The Potting Shed mantra 'Quality Food with Relaxed Dining' is evident throughout the bistro: From the creative food, to the comfortable surroundings and the friendly efficient service. All customers are welcome whether dining or just having a glass of wine by the fire or on the terrace.

All food served is made on the premises by the talented team of chefs: the bread, the pastries, the speciality dishes and even the baked beans! They pride themselves on the fact all their produce is sourced locally.
On top of all that The Potting Shed lies in a unique location, steeped in history. It’s beside The Wagonway, a haven for walkers and therefore friendly dogs and muddy boots are welcome in the lower dining area. The monthly themed evenings are roaring success with gourmet menus being complemented by live entertainment. The restaurant is also available for private hire so you can bring a sense of 'Quality Food with Relaxed Dining’ to your own celebration.

Meet the Chef, Mathew Hewitt
|
|
|
Head Chef Matthew Hewitt has been working with food for half his life. A former student of Barnsley College, he's worked at Anton Mossiman's private dining club in London, and the De Ente in Germany; a two star Michelin restaurant. But it's having a dedicated and tight-knit team that Matthew enjoys most about working at The Potting Shed and he believes this is reflected in their food. Every meal served from his kitchen is a tasty artistic creation. He's very proud that all products are made on the premises including bread, pastries and desserts. 'Where else could you dine and expect the bread to have been hand made that morning?’ He also thrives on the fact that the team uses so much fresh, local produce. ‘Cooking locally produced food provides the upmost quality that customers want. Our cheddar and brie are both from Yorkshire and the Haddock and Chips is 12oz of pure fresh Grimsby fish'. Matt's been getting some great feedback from our customers and he says 'that's what you come in at 6:30 in the morning for - the buzz of knowing people are enjoying your food'. |
